De makers van klassiekers als Fruit Ninja en Jetpack Joyride hebben patent op originele games met een hoge 'oké-nog-één-level-dan'-factor. Ook Colossatron is onweerstaanbaar leuk – en dat terwijl het doel is om wereldsteden van de kaart te vegen. Dat doe je door er een buitenaardse robotslang op los te laten. Het beest vliegt op de automatische piloot, zodat jij in staat bent rondvliegende wapenmodules aan zijn slingerende lijf toe te voegen, waarbij de kleurencombinaties en de posities doorslaggevend zijn.

Repetitive and boring

What happens when you mix match 3 with Snake, Colossatron. The game's main character is a very agressive and destructive dragon. Ready to demolish 7 regions across the globe. All it needs is you. You're in control deciding how the snake's body will cause massive destruction. Will you go for cannons, flamethrowers, shields?

After a few rounds of snapping body parts and making combo's it quickly becomes repetitive. The money you earn isn't nearly enough to transform the dragon into a warbeast of your wildest dreams and the premium cash is scarce, as usual. When after playing 1 full game I had successfully reached the end of the game, Colossatron left me unpleasantly surprised. Was the only difference between the 7 regions the looks of the buildings? Why was it so easy, I only needed one respawn. Do they really not want me to play more games?

Great graphics really made the explosions, lasers and animations worth mentioning. However, from a studio like Halfbrick we expect stronger game design than Colossatron's. Less focus on the usual overly expensive upgrades, more interaction with your character, less repetitive story/sounds... any of these would have made it somewhat better. Unfortunately it seems Halfbrick jumped the iap-train for good. Hold to uninstall, better luck next game.
