OTP Auth adds support for two-factor authentication to your iPhone and iPad. It can be used with Dropbox, Facebook, GitHub, Google Mail and many more. Make your accounts safe again!

All data stored by OTP Auth is stored using strong AES-256 encryption. This applies for all data. In particular, for both locally stored data as well as data stored in the iCloud Drive (when iCloud Sync is enabled). The password for those files never leaves your device such that noone but you can read your data.

OTP Auth does not collect information about you or send them anywhere. You won't be asked to allow access to your contacts or your location. And most important: OTP Auth does not connect to the internet and will not send your accounts to someone else! (Unless you enable iCloud sync where an AES-256 encrypted copy of your accounts is stored in your iCloud Drive. The password for that copy will never leave your phone.)

Easily the best OTP/MFA app for iOS

This app gives me more control over my OTP codes than I have ever seen from any other app on iOS. The ability organize your OTP codes in folders, back-up the database locally or to iCloud and to quickly generate OTP codes from Apple Watch are all top-notch features.

The app behaves and feels like a native/stock iOS app and looks great both in light and dark modes.
Offers Siri Shortcuts support which is a big plus.

I would also like to specifically thank the author(s) for still supporting older iOS and watchOS versions, this allows me to keep my hardware useful for longer and reduce waste.

The only suggestion I would have to make the app even better for me is to show the custom icons I set for some of my accounts on Apple Watch, they're currently blank and it makes it more difficult sometimes to quickly find the code I need.

Works perfectly for years, sync via iCloud between iPhone, iPad and macbook.

The best choice

This app is the OTP app you should install if you use an iPhone. The export functionality makes it a breeze to switch phones or just backup your 2fa accounts. However, it’s a shame that this app isn’t open source. This leaves me with many questions related to the way the cryptography is implemented.

Right now the main reason OTP Auth is not open source is that with the source it’s super simple to upload copy cats of OTP Auth to the App Store. And that’s something I want to prevent.

However, I (kind of) documented the file format used by OTP Auth by publishing the following tool for decrypting OTP Auth files on platforms other than iOS: https://github.com/CooperRS/decrypt-otpauth-files

There you can see that OTP Auth uses strong AES encryption via a well tested library called RNCryptor.
