Ys II is
Nearly twenty-five years and more than half a dozen ports later, Falcom has once again taken up the Ys mantle with a compilation of the first two games in Ys I & II Chronicles. This version is based on the Playstation portable collection, that was based on the 2001 PC remake Ys I & II Complete, that makes this game about 15 years old. Ys I & II are two parts of a whole. Originally crafted as two separate games back in the late 1980s, these two tell a complete story when placed back to back.
Ys I & II feature some infuriating boss fights. In Ys II the focus is more on magic skill as the majority of bosses must be defeated with it.
The bar at the top and bottom of the screen remind us that this game was originally intended for the Playstation portable. For a lazy iOS version of a game this old I personally feel that the price is to much for the little effort that was put into it.
